Job Overview:
Assigned to the Thunder Creek Pork location, the Level 3 Kill Floor General Labourer is an integral team member within the production function. The general duties include but are not limited to the following jobs: Hog drover, stun/shackle, leaf lard puller, gams and rollers, shavers, defect detector, condensation wiper/hog staging. And/or Hock/front foot saw, weigh/push/trim carcasses, skinner operator, trimmers, and palletizer.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a positive working environment and the health and safety of co-workers
  • Perform the following jobs at the line speed: Hog drover, stun/shackle, leaf lard puller, gams and rollers, shavers, defect detector, condensation wiper/hog staging. And/or Hock/front foot saw, weigh/push/trim carcasses, skinner operator, trimmers, and palletizer
  • Communicate issues or concerns effectively with Lead Hands or production management
  • Adhering to all Health and Safety Policies and Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices
  • Working knowledge of the production needs, product specifications, the flow of production lines, and production-related equipment operation
  • Performing various production-related duties on a rotation basis
  • Other production-related tasks as directed by the Production Supervisor

Job Qualifications:

  • At least 1 year of experience as an industrial butcher is required
  • Demonstrated ability to react to situations with a strong sense of urgency using a creative and logical approach to resolution
  • Basic communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a warm/cold environment; standing for extended periods
  • Ability to physically push, pull, and lift to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently as a team member
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
